Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals Trust

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NuTH) is one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK, providing healthcare to communities across the North East of England and beyond.

STCS have worked with NuTH since 2018, working both alongside their in-house IT department and also as an independent supplier. An overview of the work we have undertaken is detailed below.

Initially provided Analyst resource to gather IT requirements to deliver new screening project to help identify early-stage lung cancer in patients across Newcastle and Gateshead.  Identifying system requirements, creation of process and data flows and review of potential solutions

Due to lack of in-house IT resource, STCS were commissioned to build a bespoke solution to deliver needs of programme.  Provided IT Project Manager, team of Developers and Tester to design, develop, test and rollout bespoke solution.  Solution continues to be developed to help deliver new requirements as the programme progresses

” STCS provided us with project and development capacity to scope out the requirements of our system and to build it. Their Project Manager was quick to understand the complexities of the project when they first came on board. STCS have been responsive to changes required throughout the build, often turning around requests in just a matter of hours or days when needed. Users of the system all report how easy it is to use in comparison with other patient management systems they’ve used; that’s not to say, however, that the logic which sits behind the system is simple, and STCS have built a system for us which manages complex information and safety nets patients at different points in the care pathway, reducing manual work and human error. STCS have engaged with Trust Departments and external partners when needed on different aspects of the build, offering novel solutions to problems when tried and tested methods couldn’t be used (for example, building automated letters into our system when existing solutions couldn’t be used in the way needed). ”
